Support Process for Assisting and Assessing Students from a Refugee Background

The information provided in the following web pages has been prepared by a Brisbane Catholic Education team from Guidance Counselling and Curriculum-ESL.  They include guidelines which outline a process, which can be used by schools for the purpose of supporting students from a refugee background enrolled in Brisbane Catholic schools. The Support Process for Assisting and Assessing Students from a Refugee Background has been developed in response to an identified need to have in place a team approach for the purpose of assisting and supporting this group of students with their unique and diverse learning and social needs. The full document can be downloaded from the menu. The document is a ‘living’ guidelines’ document to assist schools in working with students and, as such, is open to further development and improvement. The process has been developed with the intention of a team approach practice to be guided largely by the principal of the school. The principal will involve people with particular expertise to assist with the process at the appropriate times.
